SLS-501 The STEM Academic Leader in Higher Education2 semester credits Restricted to enrollees in Academic Leadership Certificate Program(s). Academic Leaders in STEM and other fields are required to interact with numerous academic and non-academic systems and operations in higher education. This course focuses on the range of responsibilities that current and future academic leaders must attend to in various leadership roles, including department chairs, deans, provosts, and presidents. With a particular focus on the STEM disciplines and the concept of intersectionality, students are introduced to the interrelated topics on which academic leaders must be informed. Assignments include completion of the Leadership Executive Assessment, readings, discussions, and knowledge transfer to practical application.
