HOD-855 Transformative Phenomenology

4 semester credits
Students study changes in consciousness, using basic principles of phenomenological research that open avenues to positive change in the researcher and the participants in the research/practice projects.  These same principles open up creative avenues for leadership and practice.  Based on the book edited by Rehorick and Bentz, (Transformative Phenomenology: Changing Ourselves, Lifeworlds and Professional Practice, learners will become aware of such projects across fields such as health care, high performance teams, education, psychotherapy and art production. Students will be able to design phenomenological research. Students will be able to discuss topics using Gadamer’s levels of hermeneutics.
