HOD-839 Archetypal Imagery

4 semester credits
This course focuses on of archetypal theory from Freud’s psychoanalytic to Jung’s foundational work, as well as theories from Edward Edinger, Maria Louis Franz and Marion Woodman, examining psychodynamics and archetypal imagination. Coupled with this stream of knowledge, is research from brain physiology on the cognitive process with Karl Pribram on expanded perception and Jean Achterberg on psychoneuroimmunology.  Students learn the details how archetypal imagery can help create emotional health by opening the shadow in the unconscious and awakening intuitive insight to bring awareness to the whole of the being or the Self. Practical work applying archetypal imagery to self-development as well as part of professional practice is included. Students will be able to discuss in detail archetypal theory and brain physiology research on imagery and apply learning to self and work projects.
