PSY-723 Qualitative Research4 semester credits The goal of this course is to develop an understanding of the theory and practice of qualitative research so that the student is prepared to conduct such an inquiry. We will review the epistemological foundations of qualitative inquiry, current debates about its place in psychology and then proceed to a more practice-oriented consideration of issues in interviewing and techniques of analysis of qualitative data. We will conclude with practice in writing up qualitative results with attention to issues of forms of writing and conceptual framing of results.
