ELC-780 Developing a Research Proposal

4 semester credits


Following committee approval of their Concept Paper, students write their Dissertation Proposal, including Research Question, Background of Study, Literature Review, and Methods. Students continue to develop their scholarly voice and strengthen academic writing skills.

By successfully completing this course, students will be able to:

  • Write a Dissertation Research Proposal, including a clear and focused Research Question, Background of Study, Literature Review, and Methods.
  • Strengthen scholarly writing skills by integrating feedback and revisions into the Dissertation Proposal.
  • Articulate the significance and theoretical foundation of the research question within the context of existing literature.
  • Write a persuasive academic argument for research design and methodology in alignment.
  • Develop and refine a strong, consistent scholarly voice throughout the Dissertation Research Proposal.
