PSY-734 Neurological Disorders

This course addresses the underlying neurological and organic bases, psychological ramifications, and neuropsychological consequences of common neurological disorders.

  1. Demonstrates advanced knowledge of the organization of higher cortical functions as applied to specific neurological/neuropsychiatric disorders.
  2. Describes neurological and neuropsychiatric symptoms that are typical of specific neurological disorders.
  3. Critically analyzes the strengths and weaknesses of a flexible versus fixed battery approach to the neuropsychological assessment of various neurological disorders.
  4. Demonstrates knowledge of disease-specific neuropsychological/cognitive test profiles pertaining to specific neurological disorders.
  5. Discusses intervention recommended for specific neurological disorders.
  6. Explains multicultural factors that may adversely impact diagnosis, assessment, and treatment of neurological disorders.
