ELC-725 Structural Inequality and Diversity4 semester credits Students examine how systems of oppression are created and maintained. Topics include national, international and local struggles to end structured inequalities. By successfully completing this course, students will be able to:
- Examine how systems of oppression are created and maintained through historical, social, and institutional structures.
- Analyze how marginalized groups have worked to challenge and dismantle structural inequalities.
- Reflect critically on personal beliefs and actions regarding race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, ability, and class.
- Understand key concepts and theories related to diversity, privilege, and intersectionality in the context of social systems. Develop strategies for addressing structural inequality in leadership, policy, and practice.
