IECD-587 Introduction to Secondary Data Analysis4 semester credits This course will introduce students to the practice of secondary data analysis, an approach to research using previously collected data to answer research questions beyond those for which the data was originally collected. Students will identify multiple sources of publicly available data (online and via request), propose research questions, and use statistical techniques such as multiple regression, ANOVA, and non-parametric procedures to test hypotheses arising from these research questions. Students will need access to SPSS or other data analysis tool of their choosing, such as R, SAS, or Excel. Some additional instruction in statistical methods will be provided, as well as support in using SPSS or Excel. Evaluation will consist of presentations by students.
