IECD-583 A Practitioner’s Toolkit: Reflective Practice and Techniques4 semester credits This course focuses on effective teaching and practical tools. It will also concentrate on reflective skills, attunement, sensitivity, and empathy and provide strategies for using these skills in real world circumstances. As such, the course will focus on conceptualizing self in relation to the impact on others, understanding one’s body’s signals, regulatory capacities, and strategies as applied to practice, the practice of thoughtful curiosity, learning to tolerate the state of not knowing, the process of understanding and attributing meaning, the impact on leadership development; cultural considerations; the application of reflective practice, in terms of working with children and families.
