HOD-806 Systems Approaches to Leadership, Organizations, and Society4 semester credits This course is based in the assumption that multiple frames of reference are possible, viable, and necessary. Students explore the relationship between the parts and the whole of phenomena. Complexity, interdependence, and punctuated equilibrium are key concepts as students explore the arrangements and patterns associated with leadership, organizations, and society. Systems bridges the gaps between leadership theory and practice, providing a rigorous foundation for learning to lead and to navigate in today’s complex, socially and technologically interconnected world. This course introduces students to theorists in the human, cultural, and social sciences that have grappled with issues of how organizations and social order are constructed, sustained, and changed. Delivery Method: Online Grading Default: Letter Learning Outcome(s):
- Use methods, models, and theories from diverse disciplines to understand the dynamics of leadership, organizations, and society
- Demonstrate rigorous and flexibility abilities needed to research, analyze, understand, and discuss today’s most pressing leadership issues.
- Situate the student’s own practice and approach to leadership within multiple intellectual systems traditions.
