IECD-581 Reflective Practice/Supervision4 semester credits This course will combine theory and practice. The course will be co-taught so that students can continue to have discussions and have practice engaging in reflective practice experiences. The course will alternate sessions each week, i.e., a class involving discussions relating to reflective practice, and then a practice class in which students will work in pairs or groups to practice reflection and to have ongoing supervision on their work. Students successfully completing this course will be able to:
- Participants begin integrating the theoretical foundation of reflective Supervision into practice.
- Participants will have increased understanding and confidence when using Reflective Supervision tools to incorporate reflective supervision/practice in educational or work environments.
- Participants will learn strategies of holding multiple perspective while providing and receiving reflective supervision facilitating cultural competence and sensitivity considering complex early childhood, family and systems challenges.
- Participants will have increased capacity in reflection, use of self, mindfulness and the parallel process.
- Participants will engage in face-to-face interactions and obtain reflective feedback so that students can develop the skills to do reflective supervision with other professionals.
