PSY-734 Neurological Disorders4 semester credits This course addresses the underlying neurological and organic bases, psychological ramifications, and neuropsychological consequences of common neurological disorders. - Demonstrate advanced knowledge of the organization of higher cortical functions as applied to specific neurological/neuropsychiatric disorders.
- Describe neurological and neuropsychiatric symptoms that are typical of specific neurological disorders.
- Critically analyze the strengths and weaknesses of a flexible versus fixed battery approach to the neuropsychological assessment of various neurological disorders.
- Demonstrate knowledge of disease-specific neuropsychological/cognitive test profiles pertaining to specific neurological disorders.
- Discuss intervention recommended for specific neurological disorders.
- Explain multicultural factors that may adversely impact diagnosis, assessment, and treatment of neurological disorders.
