PSY-731A Diversity Issues in Health Psychology2 semester credits A review of the impact of factors such as gender, age, cultural factors, socioeconomic status and sexual orientation on individuals’ physical and mental health. This course examines important considerations for prevention, intervention, and service delivery. Topics may include: methodological issues in conducting research with diverse populations, developmental health psychology, child and adolescent health, gender differences in health, chronic disease and psychological adjustment, quality of life, health disparities, the role of culture in illness perception and adjustment to illness among others.
