CMHC-523 Treatment Issues and Interventions with Latinx Individuals, Couples and Families

3 semester credits
This course provides in-depth discussions of cultural variables influencing health beliefs among Latino/as and the incorporation of customs and beliefs into the provision of culturally responsive psychotherapy and counseling. The course focuses on the practice of culturally responsive interventions with Latinx clients with attention to individuals differences (i.e., age, gender, immigration status). Additionally, strategies to manage cross-cultural dilemmas and clinical impasses with Latinx clients will be explored and developed.
