- To achieve an in-depth understanding of the basic issues and legal standards in the practice of criminal forensic psychology including various competencies, mental state at the time of alleged offense conduct, sentencing and capital punishment.
- To achieve an understanding of the leading cases relevant to the practice of criminal forensic psychology.
- To achieve an understanding of the use of interviews, psychological testing, collateral information, record review and other sources of information in forming a criminal forensic psychological opinion.
- To gain a basic understanding of research relevant to the practice of criminal forensic psychology.
- To become familiar with the ethical, cultural and professional issues that arise in the practice of criminal forensic psychology.
